Manchester United’s Harry Maguire, 30, is for sale.

“West Ham have made an offer for Maguire on loan, but United have rejected it,” the Daily Mail reported on Sunday (July 17).

“The Hammers will not sell Maguire but are willing to accept a £35 million ($581 million) transfer fee,” it added.

“With West Ham looking to bring in a center back and at least two new midfielders, they believe Maguire’s price tag is too high.”

Maguire is a center back who was signed by Manchester United four years ago for a fee of £80 million ($132.8 million). The England international was tasked with being United’s defensive ace.

However, he fell far short of expectations. He made frequent mistakes that led to goals and suffered many nagging injuries. After the arrival of Eric ten Haag, he lost his place in the starting lineup.

Last season, Maguire started a total of 31 games. He started just eight of the 16 Premier League games. It’s safe to say he had little impact on the team. He wasn’t given a chance 안전놀이터 as he was pushed aside by Raphael Varane and Lissandro Martinez.

On top of that, he was dropped as captain. “I had a conversation with coach Ten Haag. He informed me that he will change the captain. He also explained the reasons. I am very disappointed. But I will give my all in the Man Utd shirt.”

With the captain’s armband gone and his place on the bench, Maguire’s position is diminishing. That’s why a move has become more likely. “Along with Chelsea, West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham have been linked with a move for Maguire,” according to British publication The Sun, “and it is possible that a move could become a reality before the transfer window closes.”

However, the move is not expected to be easy. “Maguire would need to take a significant wage cut to make a move,” says the Daily Mail, adding, “Maguire is happy at United. Off the field, Maguire has been working with the club’s foundation.”
