Tottenham Hotspur are not considered a top-tier team.
Expectations were high for Spurs when they started last season under Antonio Conte. In the 2021-22 season under Conte, Spurs turned things around in a big way, finishing fourth in the English Premier League (EPL) and punching their ticket to the UEFA Champions League (UCL). So expectations were high, and the results were disastrous.
Conte was sacked for his simplistic tactics, controversial interviews, and more. In the midst of a farce of an acting manager, Tottenham finished in eighth place. They didn’t even qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Director of football Fabio Paratici left in disgrace, and the club was slow to hire a replacement amid internal problems.
Enter Postecoglou. The first Australian to manage in the EPL, Postecoglou made a name for himself in Europe when he led Celtic to a dominant treble. Postecoglou brought in Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, and Mickey van der Penn to bolster his squad. While the squad has been strengthened, the departure of Harry Kane has left a huge hole. 메이저놀이터
Sky Sports in the UK made their predictions for the EPL standings for the 2023-24 season. Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville, and Karen Carney were involved. Carragher and Carney picked Manchester City as the champions. Neville picked Arsenal. In second through sixth place, Carragher picked Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle United. Neville chose Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Aston Villa. Carney picked Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
There was no Tottenham under Postecoglou. Even with all the new players, he didn’t rate Spurs highly without Kane. In fact, even with Kane, the expectations for Tottenham were not high, but with Kane, Postecoglou’s rating dropped even further. Spurs fans will be frustrated once again if they don’t win the title, the UCL, and even a UEFA Europa League (UEL) ticket. Spurs started the season without a win, drawing 2-2 at Brentford in the first round of the EPL.
Meanwhile, Carragher and Neville picked Elling Holland as their top scorer this season, while Carney picked Mohamed Salah. In terms of key signings, Caragher, Neville, and Carney selected Madison, Declan Rice, and Andre Onana, respectively. For notable players or managers, Caragher, Neville, and Carney selected Andoni Iaraola, Onana, and Kaoru Mitoma.
