Cho Kyu-sung (25, Mittwillan) exploded for his first goal in his European debut.
Meatwillan defeated Vidovre 1-0 thanks to a goal from Cho Kyu-sung in the opening match of the 2022-2023 Danish Superliga at the MCH Arena in Herning, Denmark, at 2 a.m. ET on Feb. 22. Mittwilan took all three points.
Making his Danish league debut, Cho Kyu-sung started in the ace number 10 shirt. He opened the scoring with a header in the 11th minute of the second half before being substituted after 73 minutes. He couldn’t have asked for a better debut in his first game in Europe.
Wearing a headband, the ‘World Cup star’ made a strong first impression on the Danish fans. In the 24th minute, Cho beat one defender before firing a left-footed shot that hit the crossbar. The shot hit the crossbar and bounced away, leaving him with no chance on goal.
In the 27th minute, Cho Kyu-sung caught a long pass from the front and tried to shoot, but the goalkeeper got to the ball first. His first touch was not good as he caught the ball with his chest, but his aggressiveness stood out.
Mittwillan earned a penalty kick in the 38th minute for a handling foul on the opponent. Isaksen stepped up to take the spot kick, but the goalkeeper saved his effort. The teams went into halftime at 0-0.
