There is an interesting story that Kang Sung-jin is on the radar of Tottenham manager Angie Postecoglou, who had Oh Hyun-gyu.
“Tottenham could move to sign Sung-jin Kang after expressing interest in him,” British outlet The Boot Room reported on Nov. 11.
Tottenham recently appointed Postecoglou, who led Celtic FC to the Domestic Treble, as their new manager. During his time at Celtic, Postecoglou was known for his heavy use of Asian players from Australia and Japan, including Oh Hyun-kyu, and Kang Sung-jin’s name was on his list.
Kang has been a key part of the South Korean U-20 team’s rise to the top four. He participated in the East Asian Cup with the A-team last July, scoring a multi-goal performance against Hong Kong, and is considered the future of Korean soccer.
“The Boot Room highlighted a report in the Sunday Mirror that Kang’s name was on Postecoglou’s recruitment list when he was at Celtic. Now that he’s headed to Tottenham, this remains valid and could increase interest in the player.
Of course, Kang is still a young player and whether he has the quality to play in the English Premier League right away is more of a question mark. He’s not a surefire starter in K League 1 either. The outlet also mentioned this. 스포츠토토
However, they don’t deny that he’s a talented player. “The Sunday Mirror said, “Postecoglou has been keeping an eye on Sung-jin Kang, who is an interesting talent, and has shown interest. Tottenham, now his team, could increase their interest.”
Tottenham and Celtic could also be in the running for Kang. “It would be a blow for Celtic to lose him,” says The Boot Room. They have been bringing in players from Asia for the past few years and have been incredibly successful. If they sign him, they will be hopeful that they have found another gem.”
“However, Celtic are now in a position to fight (for Kang) as their favorite man (Postecoglou) is heading to Tottenham,” he added.
