Ryu faces off against Scherzer.

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu will start against the Texas Rangers on Sept. 13 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.

Toronto has confirmed its starting pitching for the four-game home series against Texas, which runs from Sept. 12-14. Chris Bassett will start Game 1, followed by Hyun-jin Ryu, Yusei Kikuchi, and Kevin Gausman. For Texas, it will be Dane Dunning, Max Scherzer, Jordan Montgomery, and Nathan Eovaldi.

Hyun-jin Ryu will start Game 2 of the series against Scherzer. Scherzer, who was traded to Texas from the New York Mets this summer, is 12-6 with a 3.91 ERA in 147.1 innings pitched in 26 games this season. In seven games since the trade, he is 3-2 with a 3.63 ERA in 39.2 innings. Ryu has had several opportunities to start against Scherzer with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto. This will be their first meeting.

Ryu took his second loss of the season on April 7 against the Oakland Athletics, giving up two runs in five innings. While his numbers weren’t bad, his pitches weren’t as sharp as they had been in his previous five outings. Ryu will take the mound for his eighth start of the season against a Texas team that has been a powerhouse this season, looking for his fourth win and first quality start of the season.

Ryu has started three games against Texas in his career, going 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in 17.1 innings pitched. He struggled last year, allowing six runs in 3.1 innings (ND), but has faced them twice in 2021, allowing two runs in seven innings (L) and no runs in seven innings (W). 소닉카지노

Texas has some “old teammates. Corey Seager, who played with the Dodgers, and Marcus Semien, who played with Toronto, are the mainstays of the team’s batting order. However, against Ryu, Seager went 0-for-2 and Semien went 0-for-5.

Toronto and Texas are currently locked in a tight American League wild card race. Through 10 games, Toronto leads Texas by 0.5 games, but both teams are chasing the third-place Seattle Mariners. It will be interesting to see how Ryu pitches against Texas and Scherzer on the crucial road trip.
